NEW 2024 Rolex and Patek Philippe releases at Watches and Wonders - WatchesOff5th

Introduction

Today is the day we've all been waiting for: the Watches and Wonders 2024 release day. We'll dive into all the new releases today, and I can't wait to show you guys the super exciting stuff.

I. Rolex 2024 New Releases: New GMT Master II, New Day-Dates in 40mm and 36mm, New 2024 Daytonas, & a Yellow Gold Deep Sea

2024 Rolex GMT Master 2 shown with both Oyster and Jubilee bracelet. Black and Grey ceramic bezel and stainless steel case.
So, let's start with the first stop from Rolex. We have a brand new GMT Master II, reference number 126710GRNR. This is kind of like a reissue of the GMT's all-black ceramic bezel, but now we have a black and gray ceramic bezel. You can choose an oyster steel bracelet or a jubilee bracelet. This piece is really nice, and we also like how you have the option of the jubilee bracelet to give the watch that extra shine.
The green GMT hand is the same one you'd see on the Sprite or the discontinued all-black GMT

New 2024 Rolex Day-Dates: 40mm and 36mm

This was a heavy Day-Date release from Rolex. We have some 40-millimeter and 36-millimeter models, so let's go through some of our favorites. Let's start off with the Day-Date 40's.

2024 New Release 40mm Rolex DayDate Everose with Ombre dial

2024 Day-Date 40mm Releases

  1. First, we have an ever-rose gold case and bracelet with a gray ombre dial.
  2. Second, a white gold case and bracelet with a mother-of-pearl dial.
  3. Third, a platinum case and bracelet with a blue ombre dial.
  4. We have an ever-rose gold case and bracelet with a mother-of-pearl dial.
  5. Lastly, there is a yellow gold case and bracelet with a green ombre dial.

And some of these watches come with the diamond bezel variation as well. Now, for the 36-millimeter day dates,

2024 Day-Date 36mm Releases

  1. A full platinum case and bracelet with an ice-blue dial.
  2. White gold case and bracelet with a blue dial, and this one has a diamond bezel.
  3. A yellow gold case and bracelet with a white dial.
  4. An ever-rose gold case and bracelet with a blue-green dial. Jen says: "I think this one's going to be one of the most popular ones out of the releases. It's a personal favorite of mine."
  5. And lastly, we have an ever rose gold case and bracelet with a brown ombre dial, and this one has a diamond set president bracelet.

Rolex Deep Sea Gold with Blue Dial 44mm - (Ref# 136668LB)

Rolex Deep Sea Yellow Gold 136668LB
Transitioning away from the Day-Dates, let's take a look at this new Rolex Deep Sea. This thing is a serious hunk of gold - reference number 136668LB. This piece features a gorgeous blue lacquer dial and lume. With the solid gold body and massive 44-millimeter case size, this thing has some weight. But, it does have a titanium case back! As a Rolex divers watch, it of course has a helium-valve button on the side.

Rolex 1908 Platinum Dress Watch 39mm - (Ref# 52506)

Next up, we have a Rolex 1908. This is reference number 52 506. This watch comes in a 39 millimeter platinum case and has an icy blue dial with a rice grain motif - which we really love. The combination is very pleasing to the eye, and we think it's going to give a lot of dimension and catch light beautifully. This watch also comes on a brown leather strap.

Two New 2024 Rolex Daytona reference number 126589 RBR with black and white mother of pearl dials.

Rolex released a bunch of different variations of diamond set Bezel Daytonas. But these are the two that we want to focus on—the Rolex Daytona reference number 126589 RBR.
So, both variations come in white gold, have a mother-of-pearl dial, and have a diamond-set bezel. What makes them different is that one of them has a darker mother-of-pearl dial, and the other has a lighter, more white mother-of-pearl dial. The darker variation comes on an oyster bracelet, and the whiter variation comes on an oyster flex bracelet.

I could definitely see a collector buying both of these. It's almost like a Yin and Yang effect because both of them share common colors and kind of contrast each other, which is pretty cool!

Closing thoughts on the 2024 Rolex unveiling at Watches and Wonders

Overall, this year from Rolex hasn't been anything crazy, and you'll notice a lot of comment sections echoing the same sentiment. We've been seeing some jubilee bracelets being added and some revamping of older models. In a couple years we'll most likely see a release with a ton of heavy hitters and crazy pieces, as Rolex usually does it. Honestly, I feel like this is the perfect formula for Rolex because consumers will value and appreciate the products more when we're not seeing something crazy being released every single year. These small tweaks make the world of Rolex a more versatile place overall.

Rolex Discontinued Models 2024

So, lastly, we're talking about what Rolex has announced at watches and wonders that they will be discontinuing.

Rolex Discontinued All Yacht Master II's

Depending on how active you are in the watch world, this may come as no surprise. People have been talking about the Yacht Master 2 being discontinued for a while now, and it has now officially been dropped from the Rolex catalogue. Even though the technology was impressive, it wasn't the most practical or attractive watch and never caught on as a trendy or stylish piece. Now, the solid gold Deepsea seems to be taking its place in the "massive precious meta watch" slot.

Rolex Discontinued all Datejusts with the Palm and Fluted motifs.

Bye bye to the motifs :( you will be missed

Rolex Discontinued the "Le Mans" Daytona in White Gold

Discontinued 2023 Rolex Daytona "Le Mans"

Lastly Rolex announced that they're discontinuing the Le Mans Daytona in White Gold. This had a short but powerful run, but don't worry they are releasing a yellow gold variation of it!

Patek Philippe New Models 2024 Watches and Wonders

1. Patek Philippe Aquanaut (Ref# 5164G-001)

First we have this nice, simple Aquanaut 5164G with a case crafted out of White Gold.

2. Patek Philippe Nautilus (Ref# 5980/60G-001)

Next up, we have a Nautilus reference number 5980, with a white gold case and a calfskin strap with denim stitching on it, and a matching dial color. The addition of the denim strap made an already versatile watch ten times more versatile and made it more of an everyday watch.

Jen at Watches off 5th states: "Every time Patek releases a Nautilus that doesn't come on a bracelet it doesn't do so well, but I really feel like this time it's gonna be different and I really feel like the denim strap will be popular."

3. Patek Philippe Aquanaut (Ref# 5268/461G-001) Diamond Dial and Bezel

Next up we have an Aquanaut, Reference number 5268. This is definitely the star of the show. It comes in a white gold case and a blue strap, and the dial is paved with baguette-cut diamonds and sapphires.

4. Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5269R-001 Rose Gold

Next up, we have another Aquanaut, reference number 5269R. This one comes in rose gold with a blue dial and has two time zones with a gray-blue dial, which we've seen before, and it has dual time zones, which we've also seen before, but they've done it in a new way that looks beautiful on the watch.

5. Patek Philipe "Golden Ellipse" (Ref# 5738/1R-001)

Lastly, we have the 5738, the Golden Ellipse. They brought back the Ellipse with the bracelet, which also has a sunburst Ebony black dial. This is definitely the watch for someone who likes a more vintage and dressy feel.

Concluding thoughts

Thank you so much for watching. Please let us know in the comments on YouTube what you feel about the new releases. How do you feel about Rolex? How do you feel about Patek? I feel like Rolex didn't do anything too crazy or innovative this year, but they're doing what they do best: making those minor tweaks and giving the people what they want.

And from Patek, we got a bunch of different variations of the Nautilus and the Aquanaut. And of course, we keep seeing that blue gray color, which is very versatile. So it's really great. If you get that watch, you can dress it up or dress it down, wear it with practically anything. We usually say: "give us a call or contact us through social media if you're interested in purchasing any of these pieces!" But, because these are all brand new releases, we would recommend waiting just a bit to let the market stabilize a bit. If you can't wait, give us a call and we'll do the best we can!

That being said, like and subscribe and we'll see you guys next time. Thank you so much for watching. Bye!
