Cartier New Watches 2026: The Roadster Returns and Shapes Take Over

The Cartier new watches 2026 lineup is led by the return of the Roadster, discontinued in 2012 and back at Watches and Wonders in seven references from $9,300 to $57,000. Twenty-one of this year's references now carry published US retail on cartier.com, topping out at a platinum baguette-set Tortue at $105,000. A second group of Privé, Métiers d'Art, and high jewelry pieces has been shown with no published US price yet.
If Rolex spent 2026 telling a materials story, Cartier spent it telling a shape story. Almost every release is a silhouette the maison already owned: tonneau, cushion, oval, square. The Roadster comes back in its original tonneau. The Tortue graduates from a limited Privé run to a permanent collection. The Baignoire gets covered end to end in Clou de Paris hobnail. Privé marks ten years with a platinum trio of shapes it has revisited before.

The 2026 Headliners
Six pieces carry most of the story, from the returning Roadster to both ends of the new Tortue collection.
The Cartier Roadster Is Back
The Cartier Roadster launched in 2002 and was discontinued in 2012. It comes back in 2026, after a fourteen year gap.
The shape is the point, and Cartier left it alone. The tonneau case still curves, the crown is still conical with a cabochon on top, and the date at three still sits under the headlight-shaped magnifier that gave the original its face. What Cartier changed is structural: a cleaner case profile, four rivets on the bezel, and a three-link bracelet on the QuickSwitch system, so bracelet and strap swap without tools.
Seven references launched, in two sizes and three metals, running $9,300 to $57,000. The Large measures 47.2 x 38.8 mm on the automatic calibre 1847 MC, the Medium 42.5 x 34.9 mm on the automatic calibre 1899 MC, both rated to 10 bar. One of the two steel Large references, CRWSRD0014, carries a blue PVD dial and a navy rubber strap alongside its bracelet.

The Roadster traded for fourteen years with no current retail to anchor it, because there was none. There is now. A new Roadster Medium from a Cartier boutique is $9,300, and that is the number we price older examples against.
The Tortue Becomes a Collection
Cartier brought the Tortue back as a Privé limited run in 2024. Making it permanent in 2026 is the more consequential move: a limited run ends, while a permanent collection stays in the catalog and gets restocked and serviced for years.
Six new Tortue references now carry US retail on cartier.com, on a case redrawn with softer, rounder lines than the Privé version. The entry point is a small model in 18K yellow gold on black alligator at $13,900, running Cartier's high-autonomy quartz. Four diamond-set gold references sit above it in mini and small sizes. At the top is a platinum Large, 41 x 33 x 7.2 mm, with 46 baguette-cut diamonds totaling 2.7 carats set into the case, a guilloché dial, and the hand-wound calibre 430 MC, at $105,000.
Cartier also showed a Tortue Panthère Métiers d'Art with champlevé enamel work, limited to 100 pieces per version, with no US price published (Revolution and Wallpaper, April 2026).
Santos: A Smaller Chronograph and a Woven Bracelet
The Santos de Cartier Chronograph was reworked and shrunk. The previous XL generation measured 51.4 x 43.3 x 12.5 mm; the new Large measures 47.5 x 37.7 x 11.6 mm (Monochrome, 2026). Cartier also moved to a conventional two-pusher layout on the right side of the case, replacing the left-side pusher that defined the outgoing version. Inside is the automatic calibre 1904-CH MC, column wheel, 47-hour power reserve, 10 bar. Three versions joined the permanent collection in June 2026, from steel at $14,700 to full yellow gold at $73,500, with a two-tone version between them carrying a gold bezel and bracelet screws.
The Santos-Dumont went the other direction, toward jewelry. Two Large references, 43.5 x 31.4 x 7.3 mm on the hand-wound calibre 430 MC, arrive on a woven metal bracelet of 394 ultra-thin links across 15 rows at 1.15 mm thick (Revolution, April 2026). Both carry silvered satin sunray dials, and a gilded obsidian dial version was also shown (Wallpaper, April 2026).
Privé, Baignoire and Myst: The Collector Releases
Cartier Privé turned ten in 2026, and the anniversary release is two sets of three. "Les Opus" is a platinum trio with burgundy accents: Tank Normale, Tortue Chronographe Monopoussoir, and Crash Squelette. "La Collection" is a yellow gold trio revisiting the Tank Normale, the Cloche de Cartier, and the Tank Cintrée at 23 x 46.3 x 6.95 mm. The La Collection trio is the accessible half: all three are listed on cartier.com at $37,600 each (July 30, 2026).
The Crash Squelette is the one to watch. It is 950 platinum, 45.34 x 25.18 x 12.97 mm, with a ruby cabochon crown and a semi-matte burgundy alligator strap, running the new skeletonized hand-wound calibre 1967 MC of 142 components, limited to 150 numbered pieces. Reported European pricing is EUR 90,000, with the platinum Tank Normale at EUR 58,000 and the Tortue Monopoussoir expected near EUR 55,000 in an edition of 200 (Oracle of Time, 2026). Cartier publishes no US retail for the three Les Opus platinum pieces, so those euro figures are the only pricing on record for them.
The Baignoire got the most thorough decoration of the year. Cartier describes it as adorned with the Clou de Paris motif "from the bangle bracelet to the case, down to the inside of its dial," in gold or diamonds. Two versions were shown, both 18K yellow gold at 24.6 x 19.3 x 7.5 mm. The diamond version adds 171 brilliant-cut stones totaling 4.70 carats across case and bangle, plus 100 more on the dial (Revolution and Wallpaper, April 2026). Neither Clou de Paris version is listed on cartier.com US, which publishes no reference numbers or US retail for them (checked July 30, 2026).
Myst de Cartier is the high jewelry piece, and structurally the least conventional. It has no clasp: the bracelet is built from articulated beads over an elastic internal structure, so it expands and slides on. Reported figures put 634 brilliant-cut diamonds on the yellow gold version with hand-painted black lacquer sections, 986 on the fully paved white gold, and around 112 hours of gem-setting for each.

Missing from the table, because Cartier publishes no US retail for them: the two Baignoire Clou de Paris references, the three Privé Les Opus pieces, the Tortue Panthère Métiers d'Art, and both Myst versions.
What Cartier Didn't Release
The shape story stopped short of a few places it could have gone. The Crash appears only as the Privé Squelette. The Pebble, the Tank Asymétrique, and the Pasha stay as they already sit in the catalog. The Ballon Bleu and the Panthère both sat the year out, notable given that both are core commercial lines for the maison.
Movement news went to the collectors too. The Santos Chronograph runs the 1904-CH MC, in the catalog for years now. The new skeletonized 1967 MC sits inside a limited Privé piece.
