Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm 81005: The Sapphire and Diamond Bezel
The Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38 mm reference 81005-11S3464-1CM is the integrated steel sports watch with a factory gem-set bezel of blue sapphires and white diamonds. Girard-Perregaux lists the case at 38 mm across and 10 mm thick, and the bezel carries 46 brilliant-cut sapphires and 10 brilliant-cut diamonds around the Laureato's signature octagon. Beneath it sits a rhodium-colored Clous de Paris dial, and inside is the automatic manufacture caliber GP03300, with 100 meters of water resistance and an integrated steel bracelet.

Table of Contents
1. Size, Measurements and Fit
The Laureato 38 wears compact and true to its stated diameter. In the video it measures 45.6 mm lug to lug, with a total weight of about 110 grams. For someone who normally wears 36 mm watches and rarely goes beyond those traditional smaller sizes, this 38 sits much closer to familiar territory. At the same time, the broad integrated bracelet gives it enough visual presence on the presenter's 7-inch wrist. The way the case and bracelet wrap around the wrist makes the watch feel compact, comfortable and easy to wear.

2. The Octagonal Case and Its Finishing
The Laureato combines a round case with its signature octagonal bezel and an integrated bracelet. Satin-brushed and polished surfaces are carried across the entire watch. The larger brushed areas keep the steel sporty, while the polished edges and center sections catch the light and sharpen the architecture.

3. Sapphires and Diamonds on the Bezel
The bezel is set with 10 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 0.177 carats and 46 brilliant-cut blue sapphires totaling 0.798 carats. The diamonds are on the smaller side, and that works perfectly on a 38 mm case. The stones vary around the bezel, graduating in both size and color, and they stay in balance from every angle.

It is a flashy bezel. Because the stones follow the octagonal shape so naturally, the result feels artistic, and the gem setting emphasizes the Laureato's design.
4. The Clous de Paris Dial
The dial is officially rhodium colored, and in person it reads as a clean white or silver. It carries the Laureato's signature Clous de Paris pattern, made up of small raised pyramids that become more visible as the light moves across the surface. That geometric texture works especially well here because it echoes the angular bezel and the integrated bracelet.
Applied hour markers, luminous hands and markers, and a date window at 3 o'clock complete the layout. The dial is clean and easy to read, and it gives some separation from the diamonds and blue sapphires surrounding it.
5. Caliber GP03300
Inside is the Girard-Perregaux automatic manufacture caliber GP03300. It provides the hours, minutes, central seconds and date, with approximately 46 hours of power reserve. As part of a two- or three-watch rotation, that reserve is all the watch needs.
The movement is visible through the sapphire caseback and receives proper finishing, including chamfering, circular graining, Côtes de Genève, mirror polishing, snailing, satin finishing and a sunray finish. Water resistance is 100 meters, exactly what an integrated steel sports watch calls for, factory-set stones included.

6. The Integrated Bracelet
The bracelet is one of the strongest parts of the Laureato. It begins wide at the case, tapers toward the clasp, and articulates enough to wrap closely around the wrist. The satin-brushed and polished sections continue the finishing of the case, so the entire watch feels like one uninterrupted design.

At around 110 grams, the Laureato has enough weight to feel substantial while staying light and balanced for everyday wear.
7. Flash in Balance
The Laureato 38 delivers serious flash and keeps the character of a sports watch. The stones are beautifully balanced, the octagonal bezel makes the setting feel artistic, and the white Clous de Paris dial keeps the look from becoming visually overwhelming. Underneath all of that is a manufacture automatic movement, an integrated steel bracelet, a practical date and 100 meters of water resistance.
For someone who wants factory-set stones and prefers to stay under 39 mm, this 38 version makes a lot of sense. It pairs a factory diamond and sapphire setting with excellent case and bracelet finishing and a design that is far less common than the obvious integrated sports watch choices. Compact, flashy and highly wearable, it comes across as tasteful thanks to its proportions and the way the stones are set.
