The finish is the whole story here. AP developed Frosted Gold with Florentine jeweler Carolina Bucci, who adapted an old goldsmithing technique to watchmaking. The surface is struck thousands of times with a diamond-tipped tool, and each tiny hit leaves a facet that catches light. From a few feet away it reads like diamond dust, but there is not a single stone set into the watch. It is all gold. In person the case and bracelet shift and shimmer as you move, which a polished gold Royal Oak simply does not do.
