The Royal Oak Mini is one of the smallest watches Audemars Piguet builds, and reference 67630BC.GG.1312BC.01 takes the format about as far as it goes: 23mm of solid 18-karat white gold, finished head to toe in frosted gold. We had all three frosted minis in front of us for this one, rose, yellow, and white gold, and the white gold is the piece we kept coming back to. The Frosted Gold Finish
Frosted gold is the whole story on this watch. The surface is hammered with a diamond-tipped tool, thousands of tiny indentations that catch light as a soft, grainy sparkle across the case, bezel, and every bracelet link. Audemars Piguet developed the technique with Florentine jewelry designer Carolina Bucci, adapting an old goldsmithing method. In person the effect shifts as you turn the watch, and it looks different in a bright room than it does under a lamp. It is a solid white gold watch, so the shine is coming from the metal itself, not a coating.

Dial, Case, and Movement
The dial is a tone-on-tone white gold Petite Tapisserie, the small waffle-texture pattern AP runs across the Royal Oak line, with white gold applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands carrying a luminescent fill. The octagonal bezel holds the eight signature hexagonal screws. The case is 6.6mm thick with a 33mm lug-to-lug, so it sits low and close to the arm.
Inside is the quartz Calibre 2730. Battery life runs to roughly seven years, and there is a deactivation switch through the crown for when the watch is going to sit unworn. It is rated to 50 meters, with a glareproof sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown. The caseback is solid and engraved with the Royal Oak signature, so there is no window onto the movement.

Bracelet and Wearability
The integrated bracelet is where the frosted finish earns its keep. Every link is hammered, tapering down to the AP folding clasp, and the whole thing flexes and wraps easily on a smaller arm. On the wrist the 23mm case wears clean and flat, and it slides under a cuff without a fight. This is a dress-sized Royal Oak, and it fits that way.
