The Crystal Sky Dial

Audemars Piguet calls this the Crystal Sky dial, done here in a dark blue tone. The center field is embossed with a crystalline pattern, stamped from a die that AP built up atom by atom through electroforming. The result is a faceted surface that throws light in every direction. It looks like an aventurine dial with the texture turned way up. The applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands are white gold with a luminescent coating, and they sit clean against the busy field.

The color is the part that does not translate to a screen. In bright light the blue lifts and the facets flash almost white. Under warm indoor light it settles into something deeper. That is why we keep handing it to people and watching them turn it toward the window.

Reading the Perpetual Calendar

The layout follows the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar we already know. The day of the week sits at 9 o'clock, the month with a leap-year indicator sits at 12, the date runs in the sub-dial at 3, and the astronomical moon phase is at 6. The outer chapter ring tracks the week of the year, 1 through 52.

A perpetual calendar knows the length of every month and accounts for leap years, so it does not need a date correction until the year 2100. The moon phase here is the astronomical kind, accurate to roughly one day of drift every 125 years.

The case is 41mm white gold at 9.5mm thick, on the integrated white gold bracelet that makes a Royal Oak a Royal Oak. That thinness is the headline for wearability: all the calendar work never turns into a tall watch on the wrist. The octagonal bezel with its eight exposed screws and the brushed and polished surfaces are exactly what you want from AP at this level, and solid white gold gives it real weight.

Inside is the self-winding caliber 5134, the movement Audemars Piguet has used across its 41mm perpetual calendars. Flip the watch over and you see it through an open sapphire caseback, ringed by the engraving that reads Royal Oak, Quantième Perpétuel, and Limited Edition of 200 pieces, with the Au750 hallmark for 18-karat gold.

Audemars Piguet launched this edition in spring 2024. At release, AP set US retail at $180,700 and priced it at CHF 150,000, both before tax (Maxim, March 2024). With only 200 pieces made, it was always going to be hard to find at retail, and the secondary market is where most of them change hands now. As of July 2026, listings on Chrono24 ask roughly $349,000 to $350,000, close to double the launch price, so this one has climbed rather than settled since it came out.
