AP Royal Oak Chronograph Domaine de Murtoli: White Gold, Purple Dial
This is not your standard Royal Oak Chronograph. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph Domaine de Murtoli, reference 26240BC.OO.1320BC.01, is a limited white gold special edition with a royal purple Grande Tapisserie dial, a matching purple presentation box, and an extra purple rubber strap. It pairs one of the most recognized watch designs of the last fifty years with a color and a story you will not see on a standard model. Once you have it in hand, it does not need much explaining.

Case, Weight, and Wrist Presence
The case is 41mm in diameter, made entirely from 18-karat white gold. AP lists the thickness at about 12.4mm, and our measurements came in around 12.7mm, with a lug-to-lug of roughly 53mm. The watch weighs 252 grams, more than half a pound on the wrist. There is no pretending this is a subtle piece, and that is intentional. Between the case size and the density of white gold, it wears best on a larger wrist. The heft is part of the experience.

The Royal Purple Grande Tapisserie Dial
The dial is what sets this piece apart. You get the classic Royal Oak Grande Tapisserie pattern finished in a deep royal purple. It is not a common shade, and it is not a loud, toy-like purple either. It reads as a serious color that shifts with the light. Functionally the layout is a modern Royal Oak Chronograph: chronograph counters, small seconds, and a date window integrated cleanly into the dial rather than crowding it.

Caliber 4401 Flyback Chronograph
Inside is the Audemars Piguet caliber 4401, visible through the exhibition caseback. It is an in-house automatic flyback chronograph with a 70-hour power reserve. A flyback lets you reset and restart the chronograph in a single push without stopping it first, which is a genuine mechanical function rather than a styling cue. The movement finishing is meant to be seen, and the sapphire back gives you a clear view of the column wheel and rotor.

The Domaine de Murtoli Connection
This edition is tied to Domaine de Murtoli, a five-star property in southern Corsica, the island in the south of France. That link is a large part of why the watch feels different. It is not only a new dial color. It carries a specific place and a full presentation built around it, including the matching purple Domaine de Murtoli box and the extra purple rubber strap. Those details make the set feel complete rather than like a one-off color swap.

Why Collectors Care
This is one of those Royal Oaks that explains itself on sight. You get white gold, the purple Grande Tapisserie dial, a flyback chronograph, a matching box and strap, and over half a pound of wrist presence. It is rare, it is bold, and it is very specific. This is not a Marvel-style concept collaboration, it is something a little further off the beaten path, and that is exactly what makes it interesting to established AP collectors.
