First "Le Mans", now Daytona
In 1963, Rolex released the new Rolex Chronograph reference 6239 and initially called it "Le Mans." They took out a full-page advertisement to showcase this new model the following year.
In the end, Rolex officially named this model "Daytona" after the Daytona Speedway, and it grew to the Rolex Daytona which we all know and love today.
Cultural Significance: Created to honor the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of the Le Mans endurance race.
Discontinued: Produced only during the 100th anniversary in 2023.
Limited Quantity: It is estimated that Rolex only produced a couple of hundred pieces for the entire global market, and allocations were highly limited, even to prestigious boutiques. This watch was released in white and yellow gold and was so limited that if you were lucky enough to be allocated one color, you would never be considered to receive the other.

Le Mans is a prestigious, annual endurance sports car race held at the Circuit de la Sarthe near Le Mans, France. In this grueling race, drivers and their vehicles are pushed to their limts as the team which covers the greatest distance in 24 hours is crowned the winner.
Unmistakably, Daytona
The recognizable shape of the Daytona is enhanced by red accents, working together to create a subtle show-stopper. Also new, is the exhibition caseback exclusive to the Le Mans Daytona and the newest Platinum Daytonas.
The bezel features the red "100" marking, a nod to Le Mans’ centennial legacy.
It is highly limited, being only produced during the year 2023 with only very few examples still being sold at Authorized Dealers in 2025.
