He calls it the "Piece Unique Ice Gradient Daytona," credits Rolex with building it to mark his 2026 chart records, and describes it as "the most important thing I have ever had the pleasure of owning." Published photographs show a diamond-set dial, blue stones around the bezel, a gem-set bracelet, and "FREEZE THE WORLD" engraved across the case back. The factory Daytona that answers Drake's watch most directly: a graduated baguette sapphire bezel over a pave diamond dial, built by Rolex as a catalogue reference.
What Drake Posted
The reveal came from Drake himself. His caption reads: "This is the One of One Piece Unique Ice Gradient Daytona by @rolex crafted to celebrate the record breaking milestones of 2026." He added a request that people not commission copies of it: "Please do not get your local jeweler to recreate. This is a stand alone and a part of history."
The 2026 milestones he is referring to are chart records. Drake released three albums in May 2026, ICEMAN, Habibti and Maid of Honour, and became the first artist to hold the top three positions on the Billboard 200 simultaneously. ICEMAN debuted at number one on May 30, which is where the frozen theme and the "FREEZE THE WORLD" case back engraving come from.
The watch had actually been visible before the formal reveal. Complex reported on it during the Iceman album rollout, when it kept appearing in the campaign's icy promotional imagery, well before Drake explained what it was.
Sapphires or Blue Diamonds? What Is Still Unconfirmed
Here is the part most of the coverage has glossed over. Nobody outside Rolex has confirmed what the blue stones are.
Rolex does not publish specifications for one-off commissions, does not catalogue them, and does not comment on them. Every detail in circulation traces back to Drake's own post and to photographs of the watch. On those photographs the outlets disagree: Complex described the piece as set with "white and blue diamonds that create a gradient," while other coverage read the same bezel stones as sapphires. Both are looking at the same images.
Our read, and we want to be clear it is a read: on Rolex's own catalogue gem-set watches, the colored stones are sapphires and the white stones are diamonds. Where Rolex uses a blue stone, it uses a sapphire. Blue diamonds of that size and consistency are among the rarest stones on earth, and a matched graduated set of them would be an extraordinary thing to build a bezel from. Sapphires are the far likelier answer, and the name "Ice Gradient" points the same way: a graduated run of stones from clear to deep blue is exactly what Rolex already does on its Rainbow bezels. We would still want the watch in hand before stating it as fact.
What the photographs do support, consistently across every outlet: a diamond-set dial, a gem-set bracelet, blue stones ringing the bezel, and the blue "FREEZE THE WORLD" engraving on the case back.
How to Read Rolex's Gem-Set Reference Codes
Rolex tells you what stones are on a watch in the reference number itself, using a suffix. Once you know the codes, a gem-set Rolex reference is self-describing:

Applied to Drake's watch, the code tells you something useful. A blue graduated baguette bezel on a factory Rolex sits in the same family as RBOW and SARU, both of which are sapphire, which is the strongest argument available that his stones are sapphires too. Why a Piece Unique Never Reaches the Market
A piece unique is built once. There is no reference in the catalogue, no retail price, no allocation, and no second example. When one does change hands it happens privately or at auction, and the provenance drives the number as much as the gold and stones do.
One Instagram watch account put a figure of roughly $300,000 on Drake's Daytona. We think that is low, and we can show our work.
Start with the metal and the stones. Factory gem-set Daytonas in this class already trade in the mid six figures. The two Rainbow Daytonas we have listed, reference 116595RBOW, sit at $448,000 and $670,000, and those are catalogue watches Rolex built in series.
Then add provenance, which in Drake's case has actually been measured. The gem-set GMT-Master II reference 116758SANR he wore on the cover of Take Care, engraved with the OVO owl on the case back, sold through Wind Vintage for $500,000 in 2026, as reported by Billboard and Robb Report. Robb Report put the ordinary market for that reference at roughly $83,000 to $155,000, so Drake's ownership carried it to somewhere between three and six times what the watch is otherwise worth.
The Ice Gradient Daytona starts from a higher base than either of those. Rolex built it as a piece unique, it carries more stones than a Rainbow across the dial and the bracelet, and it commemorates a specific chart record with an engraved case back. Every factor that moved the Take Care GMT is present here and stronger.
Put those together and the number starts in seven figures. Our estimate is $1 million or more, and we would not be surprised to see it go well past that if it ever came to market with the story attached. We are not financial advisors. What you can price, precisely, is the catalogue version of the same idea. Rolex builds gem-set watches in series: pavé dials, baguette bezels, sapphire and ruby settings, all done in-house at the factory. Those references have real market prices, and they are the ones we buy and sell.
The Factory Gem-Set Rolexes You Can Buy Today
Every watch in this section was gem-set by Rolex at the factory. That is the same thing Drake is pointing at when he asks people not to have his design copied by a jeweler: the setting being done by the manufacture is the whole value proposition, and it is what our stock in this category is built on.
The closest analogue to his Daytona is the Rainbow Daytona, reference 116595RBOW. Everose gold, a pavé diamond dial, and a bezel of 36 graduated baguette sapphires running through the spectrum. It is the factory Rolex that most directly answers the question "can I get a Daytona with a graduated colored-stone bezel." We currently list two examples, at $448,000 and $670,000.
The 126755SARU is the Rolex that shows what factory gem-setting looks like across a whole watch: bezel, dial and bracelet.
The GMT-Master II 126755SARU is the other one worth studying next to Drake's watch, because it is the factory Rolex with a fully gem-set bracelet and a pavé diamond dial. Its bezel is set with alternating rubies, sapphires and diamonds, which is where the SARU code comes from.

Baguette Sapphire Bezels Beyond Rolex
Baguette-cut blue sapphires, the cut and stone on Drake's bezel, are not a Rolex-only thing. Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet all set them, and in some cases the runs are smaller than anything Rolex does in series.
The two closest in spirit are the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Skeleton pair. Both carry a gold bezel set with baguette-cut blue sapphires over a skeletonized perpetual calendar, one in 18K white gold and one in 18K 5N pink gold. The pink gold version is a limited edition of five pieces. Perpetual calendars in this family track month lengths and leap years on their own, so you are looking at a date you will not have to correct until 2100.

Two things worth noting on that group. The Patek 5271 family runs the same platinum perpetual calendar chronograph with the bezel executed in different stones, blue sapphire, ruby, emerald or diamond, which is about as close as a production catalogue gets to a made-to-order gem choice. Patek also builds these bezels in stones most people never think about: the rose gold Nautilus 7118/1300R-001 carries 68 baguette-cut spessartite garnets graduating from champagne to cognac. And the Tiffany-signed Nautilus 5711/1A-018 was made in 170 pieces to mark 170 years of the Patek and Tiffany & Co. partnership, sold new through three Tiffany boutiques.
What Actually Sets the Price on a Gem-Set Watch
Four things move the number on watches in this class, and they are worth separating because the sticker rarely explains itself:
Who set the stones. Factory gem-setting by the manufacture is what the market pays for, and it is what keeps a watch inside the brand's own service and warranty world. It is the reason a code like RBOW or SARU carries weight.
Stone matching. A graduated bezel needs stones that step evenly in color and match in cut, clarity and size. Sourcing three dozen baguettes that step cleanly from clear to deep blue means rejecting most of what a supplier offers, and that yield is where the money goes.
How many were built. A limited edition of five, like the pink gold Overseas above, prices differently from a catalogue reference that ran for years.
Availability. Gem-set flagships are allocated tightly, so they surface through grey market and pre-owned channels far more often than through a boutique. That is the market we work in every day.
