The Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition (Ref. 77600CE) is one of those releases where the concept could have gone wrong and didn't. Audemars Piguet took the Offshore platform, scaled it down to 37mm in black ceramic, and themed the whole watch around music-studio gear. The dial reads as a VU meter. The push-piece guards are shaped like mixer faders. The knurled studs at the strap-to-case interface call back to the texture of a microphone jack plug or a speaker grille. Limited to 250 pieces, it's one of the more playful pieces AP has put out lately, and we think it actually pulls it off.

The 37mm Black Ceramic Case
The case measures 37mm wide and 12.1mm thick, with about 47.5mm lug-to-lug from our measurements. It's black ceramic top to bottom, and the whole watch weighs just under 90 grams. That's less than a fifth of a pound on the wrist. On a 7-inch wrist it sits comfortably, and the proportions read unisex. Bold silhouette, light feel.
The VU Meter Dial
The dial is what gives the watch its personality. AP printed it as a VU meter, the kind of volume-bar readout you'd find on a studio mixing board. Colored bars rise across the dial in stepped levels, and against the black background they pop. The hands and applied hour-markers are blackened white gold with luminescent coating, so once the lights drop the layout transforms entirely. The watch reads one way in daylight and a completely different way in the dark.

Music-Studio Details in the Strap and Pushers
The detailing is what makes the music theme work instead of feeling pasted on. The push-piece guards along the side of the case are shaped like the faders you'd slide on a mixing board. The knurled studs at the strap-to-case interface call back to the texture of a microphone jack plug or a speaker grille. None of the references are loud. You have to look for them, and we think that's why the whole thing lands. It's not taking itself too seriously, but the execution is deliberate.
Movement and Specifications
Inside is an Audemars Piguet self-winding caliber, time-only, with approximately 60 hours of power reserve and 50m of water resistance. No complications. Everything on this watch is built around the dial concept and the case theming, not the movement architecture. The piece is a design statement first.

The Interchangeable Strap System
The watch ships on a black rubber strap with a "mosaic effect" texture and a titanium pin buckle, plus three additional rubber straps in turquoise blue, yellow, and green. The piece in our video is mounted on the turquoise, which reads as a saturated baby blue depending on the light. The strap system is the part that completes the package. One color pulls the watch stealth, another pushes the music-toy energy further. It almost feels like remixing the watch depending on which strap you choose.

Who This Watch Is For
We think it's a fun watch. If you have the budget for a personality piece, one that doesn't have to be your only AP or your only watch, this one earns it. The reactions we get when we show it confirm that for us. Limited to 250 pieces also means it's not going to be on every wrist at the next event.
