Lewis Hamilton's Watch Collection: From IWC to Richard Mille

Lewis Hamilton wears Richard Mille now. His IWC ambassadorship began in 2013 and ran the length of his Mercedes career, and it ended when he signed for Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season, because Ferrari has partnered with Richard Mille since 2021. Since January 2025 he has been photographed in three Richard Mille references: the RM 67-02 "Italy", the RM 74-02 Automatic Tourbillon in Gold Quartz TPT, and the RM 43-01 Ferrari Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph.

Hamilton co-designed three special editions with IWC between 2014 and 2023, and the watch press has tracked his race-weekend pieces for more than a decade. That makes him one of the easiest drivers on the grid to document accurately, and also one of the easiest to get wrong, because half the coverage still lists the IWC pieces as current. This guide separates the two eras. Every reference below is tied to a named outlet and a date, and every price is the figure that outlet published at the time. Where the numbers disagree, we say so instead of picking the biggest one.

Why Hamilton's Watches Changed in 2025

In Formula 1 the watch on a driver usually belongs to the team's sponsor, not to a deal the driver signed on his own. IWC Schaffhausen is the partner of Mercedes-AMG Petronas. Richard Mille has been Ferrari's watch partner since 2021, as The National reported in May 2025. Hamilton drove for Mercedes through the end of 2024 and started at Ferrari in 2025, so the watch brand changed with the overalls.

The switch was visible immediately. Crash.net reported on 23 January 2025 that Hamilton wore a red RM 67-02 "Italy" for his first Ferrari test at Fiorano the day before, the same reference his teammate Charles Leclerc had been wearing for roughly four years. The two run different executions of it.

One distinction worth keeping straight: no independent report has announced Hamilton as an official Richard Mille brand ambassador in the way IWC announced him in 2013. What is documented is that he wears Richard Mille through the Ferrari team partnership. That is not the same footing as his teammate. The National reported in May 2025 that the Richard Mille and Ferrari relationship began through brand ambassador Charles Leclerc, so Leclerc holds a title Hamilton has not been reported to hold. Wearing the watches and carrying the ambassador title are two separate things, and only the first is documented for Hamilton.

Separate again is the series-level deal. TAG Heuer became Formula 1's Official Timekeeper from the 2025 season under a ten-year LVMH agreement, per Formula1.com, taking over from Rolex, which had been the sport's Official Timepiece. That contract covers the championship's timing, and it has nothing to do with what any individual driver puts on in the paddock. The arrangement is still live in 2026. Hamilton took his first Grand Prix win for Ferrari at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix this season. As of the summer break he sat second in the drivers' standings, 45 points behind Mercedes leader Kimi Antonelli, per Sky Sports on 23 July 2026. He is still in red, which means he is still in Richard Mille.

The Richard Mille Watches at Ferrari

Three references are documented on Hamilton since the move, and they cover a wide spread of money.

RM 67-02 "Italy". The first one out. A TPT composite case running the automatic CRMA7 caliber, with a total weight of about 32 grams including the strap, per Watchonista's close look at the Leclerc prototype of the same reference. The dial bridges are painted in the green, white and red of the Italian flag. Crash.net put it at just under £300,000 in January 2025; Motorsport.com quoted roughly $380,000 in March 2025.

RM 74-02 Automatic Tourbillon. Hamilton wore this in Shanghai for his first Sprint win in Ferrari red, which the South China Morning Post covered on 29 March 2025. The exact execution is not settled. Both the South China Morning Post and Motorsport.com describe the watch on him as a gold-edged Carbon TPT case, while Watchonista's February 2025 review of the RM 74-02 covers it as Gold Quartz TPT, so we are not going to pick one. At the model level it is a 34.4mm by 13.05mm tonneau over an 18k rose gold caseband, running the in-house CRMT5 automatic flying tourbillon with a 50-hour power reserve. Watchonista listed the model at $603,000 in February 2025, rising to $660,000 on the rose gold bracelet. Motorsport.com's headline figure was $600,000.

RM 43-01 Ferrari Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph. The headline piece. Richard Mille launched it in early 2025 in two executions, 75 examples each. A split-seconds chronograph adds a second chronograph hand that can be stopped to record a split time while the first keeps running, which is why it belongs on a racing watch and why it is one of the harder complications to build. This one carries a tourbillon alongside it, runs 514 components, and holds 70 hours of power reserve. GQ Middle East reported pricing of CHF 1.1 million for the titanium version and CHF 1.35 million for full Carbon TPT, both before tax, in March 2025. Motorsport.com reported Hamilton photographed in it on Spanish Grand Prix media day, 29 May 2025, quoting $1,535,000, which is the figure US coverage attached to the Carbon TPT execution.

The RM 67-02 is the same reference Leclerc has worn for roughly four years, in his own execution, which gives it the longest track record of the three. The IWC Years: 2013 to 2024

Hamilton signed with IWC in 2013 and stayed through the 2024 season. IWC has stated that he co-designed three special editions with the brand between 2014 and 2023. These are the pieces most likely to be misattributed as current.

Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition "Lewis Hamilton", ref. IW503002. Announced by IWC on 28 November 2019 and limited to 100 pieces. A 46.5mm black ceramic case with a Bordeaux red dial, an 18-carat 5N gold crown and case-back ring, and the IWC 52615 caliber with a perpetual calendar showing date, day, month, year and moon phase on a seven-day power reserve. The calendar mechanism tracks month lengths and leap years on its own, so the owner sets it once and leaves it alone.

Hamilton wore this one at the Spanish Grand Prix in May 2023 before IWC had released it, which Robb Report noted at the time and again when the watch went official in June 2023 at $40,900. Portugieser Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph Lewis Hamilton, ref. IW394008. The most complicated watch tied to his name. IWC introduced it on 21 September 2023 in platinum at 43.5mm, with a teal dial carrying 12 diamonds and Hamilton's panther-eye logo. The 89900 caliber combines a flying minute tourbillon, a retrograde date and a flyback chronograph on a 68-hour power reserve, with a gold-plated movement. Limited to 44 pieces at $169,000, per Forbes.

Pilot's Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG Petronas, ref. IW388306. He wore this on the Silverstone podium after his ninth British Grand Prix win in July 2024. IWC and the Mercedes team then donated it, with his signed race gloves, to a Bonhams online sale running 7 to 19 October 2024 for Laureus Sport for Good. The lot brought roughly $254,000, several times its estimate.

Beyond IWC and Richard Mille, the reporting thins out fast. The South China Morning Post's style desk wrote in May 2022 that his collection also took in a Rolex Daytona valued around $50,000 and a pair of Patek Philippe Nautilus references. That is a single mainstream outlet on a broad claim, so we treat it as a brand association and stop short of naming reference numbers nobody has independently confirmed.

The Prices, and Where They Get Inflated

One number does the rounds more than any other. Aggregator coverage of the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix put Hamilton's RM 43-01 at "around $2.2 million". Richard Mille's own launch pricing, reported by GQ Middle East out of the Paris unveiling in March 2025, was CHF 1.1 million and CHF 1.35 million before tax, and both the South China Morning Post and Highsnobiety carried $1.3 million and $1.5 million as the two US figures. The $2.2M version is a resale-flavored number attached to a launch-price watch, and it travels because it is bigger.

The same care applies to totals. You will see round figures for the value of the whole collection, and none of them trace back to an audit. Nobody outside Hamilton's household has inventoried it. We are comfortable listing the pieces that reputable outlets photographed and dated, and we are not going to add them up and present the sum as fact.

What we can speak to is the market these watches actually trade in. Richard Mille sells through its own boutiques on allocation, so a 75-piece Ferrari run barely reaches open sale, and the pieces that do surface come through the grey and pre-owned channel. That is the market we work in every day. The regular production references keep moving through it. A 75-piece Ferrari edition is a different proposition, and anyone hunting one should expect to chase it. Buying the References He Wears

Richard Mille is the obvious place to start, and it is a brand we handle. The RM 11-03 is the one we see people wearing more than any other model in the catalog. It is an automatic flyback chronograph in the same tonneau case architecture Hamilton wears at Ferrari, for a fraction of the RM 43-01's money.
